One of my main concerns is the smooth flow of traffic on Queens Chapel Road and Hamilton Street. Right turn access lanes at the intersections would be especially helpful to keep traffic moving. Recent roadwork, however, has eliminated right turn access lanes on both Queens Chapel Rd and Hamilton Street, much to my chagrin!!! As a result of the added congestion, motorists resort to cutting through neighborhood side streets as a short cut -- thus disturbing the peace and tranquility of the residential areas. This policy of ignoring the flow of traffic should be CORRECTED!!!

I do not see an explicit callout of Hyattsville being an "accessible" city in 2045 for the disabled and elderly (e.g. housing, transportation etc).

"sufficient amounts of affordable, desirable and healthy food year round" - reflect the complete definition of food security (e.g., UN FAO)

Should reference safe mobility for persons with disabilities, too

Suggestion / Sugerencia
say that safe connections should be "for peds and bicyclists of all ages and abilities" - including seniors who need more time to cross streets and younger bike riders

Add statement about continued public art and opportunities to experience culturally diverse creative arts, e.g., musical performances

Why limit range of housing types and price points to area around metro? The whole Plan area should be inclusive and have range of types and price points. E.g., 38th Ave btw Hamilton & Gaines Alley has affordable apts and multiple zoning types. Great mix of neighbors and accessible opportunity

Add to vision: explicit statement about drawing in those from other areas to patronize businesses (businesses attract customers from broad range...), engage socially, etc. Frame it as a desirable and included area, and suport efforts to make it that way

Fix syntax - change "live" to live" or change all to gerunds "living, working and playing"

Also state that businesses/entrepreneurs have the ability to grow

Suggesting stronger language: "designed to *prioritize* comfortable pedestrian and bicycle connections". Great statement, thank you.

I hope this push for housing doesn't reward developers like Werrlein who have ripped up tons of mature trees without permits, dumped toxic sediments in our waters with reckless abandon and operated in a lawless and disrespectful manner when it comes to our Hyattsville community. Housing should be a human right, not an opportunity to get rich.

I urge the team to be more explicit in defining "accessible streets" to be "complete streets" that include safe, low-stress biking, walking, and accessibility for people with other mobility needs. West Hyattsville's streets need to form a low-stress bicycling network of neighborhood streets, and protected bike lanes on busier streets to safely connect neighborhoods to destinations. If streets are not explicitly for bicycling, then people who bike are left with only the destination the trail network can reach.

"have opportunities" is not strong enough. This plan needs to be structured in such a way that the opportunities are more favorable to local businesses than to "national credit" businesses, such as by encouraging the construction/maintenance of smaller retail spaces as opposed to larger, more expensive spaces.
